Our Story
"A new garden club was organized on Wednesday afternoon, September 16, 1953 at the home of Mrs. John Sharp Williams by a group of women who live near Lewisville and East Bend. Mrs. Thomas, the president of the garden department of the Women's Club and Mrs. Shore of Winston-Salem were present to help with the organization. The twelve charter members of the new club are as follows: Mrs. J. S. Williams, president, Mrs. Herbert Reynolds, vice president, Mrs. T. S. Martin, Mrs. F. T. Reynolds, Mrs. W. H. Williams, Mrs. H. E. Simpson, Mrs. Clark Taylor, Mrs. W. R. Lasley, Mrs. W. E. Gladstone, Mrs. Ferdinand Jones, Mrs. Paul Transou and Mrs. Harry Cooke. Mrs. L. A. Reynolds and Mrs. Alec Conrad were visitors.
The Following officers were elected, president; Mrs. J. S. Williams, vice president; Mrs. Herbert Reynolds, treasurer; Mrs. V. C. Gunderson, and secretary; Mrs. W. E. Gladstone.
